Most of them look like bots, most of them are freakin sick in the head.

I see no where else to put this (other than questions and answers but...whatever right)?

Should the registration form be updated to try and prevent them, I don't know....but its getting annoying.... theres been what

It's been going on for a LONG time, this is nothing new. I don't think there is anyway to stop them through registration. They register using different names, emails, etc. They may post the same threads but it's rare that you ever see a bot with the same name. The only way to get rid of them is to report the post and let a mod deal with it.

It seems to be far more frequent now.
There was less IMO before.
Now what through November to december were getting a spike of them.
Its absurd.

what about one of those type what you see in the window deals (can't remember the exact name) like Ticketmaster does to stop people from using bots to buy massive amounts of tickets to events.

I can't remember if there was one already in place though.....I registered a year ago and my memory she's not so good.

From what I heard that isn't even working. Alot of big corporations are still using the bots to buy the tickets and then they raise the prices to a ridiculous amount. I heard that was happening with Hannah Montana tickets.

agreed this is just getting rediculous. pedophillia should NOT be anywhere much less on our boards here. I've seen some disturbing spam posts before but that one takes the cake, dear god.

increased security would be a good thing indeed, those image tests are great bot blockers. and really if this stuff continues at this rate it might be worth it to impliment an image test whenever creating a new thread. I wouldn't mind taking a few extra moments to type in a few letters/numbers when making a new thread if it meant I wouldn't have to log in to find sick twisted sh!t like this.

The posts are deleted. Just as an FYI, no the spam hasn't gotten any worse. We delete about 7-8 spam posts a day in this section. I do have to say that you can roll over a topic and know immediately that it's probably a spam post with the summary it gives without having to open it though. The titles give them away as well. Please report these immediately, the ones posted today lasted 2 hours and yes, I did take the time to fill out the form on http://www.cybertipline.com/ about this. Not sure what they do at that point. The email addresses, IP's and the other forum names they used have also been banned.

Personally, I dont think it matters how these bots get here. No matter what anti-spam countermeasures are put into the registration and posting processes, spambots will always manage to get in regardless.

I just report them when I see them. The mods do a fantastic job of cleaning up all the unwanted spam, but they rely on us to be their eyes and ears (not even a mod is omniscient, but there are enough people here to notice problem posts quickly and hit the report button).
